Sampson Discovers Clover

Hi Amy,
It is a tribute to your care that Sampson has acclimated so well. He slept through the night both Saturday and Sunday. He eats hearty and well and drinks often. He has had only two accidents, both of which I blame us for. He is happy, friendly, bubbly and full of love. We couldn’t be happier.

I attached a photo taken today (Monday). He is fascinated with the thick green grass in our yard and loves to venture into my unkempt gardens to smell the flowers and run through the plants. He is just adorable!

Thank you so much!

Sarah Smiles Goes Fishing

Dear Mama Amy
Yesterday I went fishing out in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Massachusetts. We left from a marina in Great Bay NH and cruised down the coast, stopping along the way to catch some little mackerel for bait for the BIG striped bass. It was a tad cool for my southern bones but a big towel over my life vest kept me warm. Whoo! Those sea gulls and diving birds are really cool! I'm having fun!

Love,
Sarah

p.s. Please tell all 9 of my sweet puppies; Sampson, Scout, Sebastion, Samuel, Sophie, Simba, Sabrina, Savannah and Simon - I hope they love their new forever families as much as I do!!!

Lily

Hi Lisa, I cannot believe it has been almost ten months since we adopted Lily (we have named her Lucy). I wanted to thank you again for everything you do and giving us the opportunity to adopt her! Especially when other adoption agencies denied me because of my age. Lucy instantly became a part of our family. It is truly amazing how a dog can bond people together. Every weekend my mom and my sisters take our dogs for hikes around NH. She is so much fun to watch running in the woods, she is so fast and so agile. I wouldn't be surprised if one of these days she actually caught a chipmunk (she has come very close). Lucy absolutely loves the water. When I pick her up out of the water she still paddles, it is adorable! She has also fallen in love with the snow this winter. I cannot imagine my life without Lucy and look forward to the years of fun and companionship we will have with her.

Thanks again!
Abbey

Bubba

Lisa,

Just wanted to let you know that Banjo [Bubba] is settling in very nicely at our home and having the time of his life!!! He is such a wonderful little fella and we all vie for his attention consistently.

The first picture is him just sitting and posing for the camera, the second one is Banjo and his cousin Toby [my brothers 7 month old Basset] they played for hours, lol and the third picture is what happens when you play with your cousin Toby for hours.

We can’t thank-you enough for supplying such joy in our lives, keep up the incredible work !!!!

Banjo has been to our vet and got a very good and clean bill of health, he eats well and is even getting pretty good with his training at such a young age.

Thank you again, Al, Rebecca and Julia

Corey's Happy Story

Hi Lisa & Amy,

Here's a current picture of Corey with her new family...she had a bath in the morning and, while she didn't much like it, she really was as good as gold! And then she smelled a whole lot better...

Her adjustment has been amazingly easy - she's a very smart dog and totally lovable. We all feel blessed! She already has three best friends in the neighborhood that she romps and races and tumbles with - they are totally entertaining to watch and she's very, very happy! I'll send a picture of them when it's not so frigid outside...

Thank you again for all your good work in helping us to find each other.

Cheers,
Piper & Colleen

Sophie's Beach Blast

Hi Lisa & Amy,

Happy Holidays! I hope you are both having a good year! I can't believe it has been a year since you saved our little Sophie. She is doing so great; it is so hard to believe the state she was in this time last year. We are so grateful to have her! She is so full of personality now and is such a happy girl. I have attached some pictures of her that were taken a month ago of her at the beach. She absolutely loves her tennis ball and even went into the cold Maine waters after it...she is a fearless little pup! I will send another email with more pictures. I am sure that you are very busy with adoptions this time of year, so I hope these brighten your day! We wish you and your family a very happy holiday season! Thank you again for everything! Sophie & the Barry family

Regal Reagan

Hi Lisa & Amy,

This week we celebrate our 4th month as Reagan's humans .. and I am not sure who is luckier! He is happy, he is so smart, he is patient, he is loving, he is a great companion, he is happy to finally be home! I truly can not imagine a life without him. Is he more work than I ever imagined, you bet ya'!!! However, I have no complaints or regrets on our decision to bring Reagan into our family; our cat might not agree with me though. Reagan, also known as My Boy, Reagie Roo and many other terms of endearment is an absolute joy to have around.

The girls adore him and he them. I bring him to the bus stop to get 'our girls' most days and he actually shakes with excitement when that bus stops in front of him. He wants everyone to be his friend, Reagan firmly believes ALL people, especially women, should want to touch him! He is such a dog's dog .. thank goodness that we live in a neighborhood with so many canine friends for him to sniff!

We waited a long time before we searched for our dog. It is no secret that he is happy here, but we will all admit that he is happiest when he is with me...that drives my daughters crazy that he skips right past them and begs me to shower him with hands on love!

Thank you both for rescuing and fostering our dog in your lives until we could find him and finally bring him home. What you ladies do is amazing and we are lucky to know Emily who encouraged us to check out your puppies in need of a home!

I attached three recent pictures to share with you. Reagan is easily the most beautiful dog I have EVER laid my eyes on and I am sure to point that out to everyone.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Amanda, Joshua, Tenley, Ainsley and Reagan

Tobey a Year Later

Hi Amy,

I just thought I'd send you a quick email with a picture of our boy Tobey.

He's about 1.5 years old now, we adopted him from you in June of 2008. Anyway, he's an absolute love...really, a perfect dog. We love him so much, our lives literally revolve around him! He goes to "Puppy Camp" three times a week and runs around in the 10+ acres on the property. He's even earned a place with the "Ruff-housers", the very energetic, playful group of dogs at the camp.

I owe you so much for finding us the perfect addition to our family. I can't express enough how much we love him...we cannot imagine what our lives were like without him!

I've attached a picture of Tobey, Matt and I at the Annual MSPCA Walk for Animals in Boston. Tobey "raised" $1,000 for the Angell Memorial Hospital here in Massachusetts. It's not the best picture, but you can see how big he's grown.

Hope you are doing well.

Thanks again,
Sarah

PS I'm working (very hard) to convince Matt on adopting a second dog, and if I succeed, I will contact ADAR Rescue!

Salty's Mountain Adventure

Lisa,

Thanks for all of the good work you do, and for allowing Salty to become a real New Hampshire dog!

I adopted my sweet Salty (alias Clancy) a little over a year ago. Today, he and my other rescue dog, Gracie, are inseparable. They are both very energetic and I make sure they get a good walk in every day, and often a long hike on the weekends. Last weekend Salty got to climb his first big peak - Mt. Washington, our highest mountain here in the northeast - reputed for its nasty weather. We got a little taste of what nature can dish out, with fog, cold winds, and ice at the summit. The dogs loved the hike except for the really icy bit at the top. (It amazes me how well these Alabama dogs adapt to our New Hampshire climate.) Once we got down again off the worst of the ice, the dogs cavorted happily. Soon the sun came out, the fog lifted, and we all came down the mountain and back to our cozy home.

This photo of Salty playing in the fog got chosen for a New Hampshire Photo Tour website.

Sweet Pea

Joe and I adopted Sweet Pea from ADAR Animal Rescue on September 12th 2009. She was found as a stray in Mississippi and was cared for by a great foster mom, Paula. Rescue Riders drove Sweet Pea from Mississippi to New Hampshire. Joe and I could not wait to meet her and anxiously awaited her arrival. When we saw her walk off the truck, we knew she was going to be perfect. AND She is. We have had her for almost three weeks and she is wonderful. We could not have adopted a better dog. Paula did a wonderful job caring for Sweet Pea while she awaited her new home and communicated with us on almost a daily basis about her. One would think not being able to meet a dog before adopting would be a scary process but Paula and ADAR did a wonderful job at making everything as simple and easy as possible. Sweet Pea was given all the medical attention she needed (spay, shots, deworming, etc.) and she arrived safe and well by Rescue Riders. Sweet Pea adjusted very quickly to her new home. She is very smart and very very sweet. She loves to give kisses, go for long walks, swim, take baths and play at the dog park. You would never be able to tell she was a stray, roaming on her own as she loves people and other pets (even cats and kids). She is absolutely amazing and Joe and I love her very much. She loves our other pup Harley, they never leave each others side! What a wonderful experience it was to adopt Sweet Pea!

Thank you again Paula and ADAR!

Hutch's Year

Lisa,

Here are some pics of our wonderful dog you had rescued we brought him all the way to New Hampshire. Hutch is now a year old and loving life! What a great dog he has become. I could not have asked for any better behaved dog. We love him so much! Thank you for everything you do and have done. Hutch was known as Dean when we adopted him in September of last year and my goodness has he grown. these pics are recent ones of him. He loves to snuggle with my daughter and on Easter yes he did not let the easter bunny leave without his gifts, what a talented dog and the one with his bandana is most current, my favorite is the one he was trying to kiss me through the camera. Thank you again for the happiness he brings to our family.

Luna & The Pumpkin Patch

Lisa,

First we want to thank you for such a great puppy. Luna has been with us now for almost 3 months, and we couldn't of asked for a better puppy. She is having fun in her puppy kindergarten class, she graduates this Saturday 10-24-09. We are thinking about having her take a therapy class so that she can visit nursing homes. She has also been great with our nieces she just loves kids. We are looking forward to a long life with her. Thanks again!

Hi All,

We just want to let you know Sam Adams (Sammy) is doing great. We adopted him from you on 03/17/2009. He fit right in. He loves to go on car rides and long walks. He graduated puppy school in the summer and doing wonderful. Here are a few pictures. We cant imagine life with out him. Sometimes he thinks he runs the house. He has us wrapped around his paws.

Linda & Sal

Barkley at Woofminster

Going on 8 months old and a solid 60 lbs! Barkley(aka Alix) is so sweet! He has so many different personalities. One guy he met on the Cape said "he is the best of all types of dogs!" His eye has finally healed. He had a prolapsed third eyelid (cherry eye) and a cartilage malformation, then an infection from a stitch the opthamologist left in!

He won "Mystery Mutt" at Woofminster and was runner up for Best in show!

He has been great-he does "circles that we call "Crazy Catahoula" runs and he loves to cuddle.

Andy in the Woods

Hi Amy,

I took some more pictures of Andy, when we went out to a state park and a conservation land in my parents town. He loved Borderland (the state park) and was off the leash for most of it throughout our (probably about 7 miles) walk. He ran away a couple of times and even chased a deer about 4 times his size! He scared me though, and didn't come back for like ten minutes, but then he came back and I put him back on the leash. We have that training consultation on Nov. 10th, so I wont be taking him off the leash until I am comfortable with my ability to call him back and his ability to listen and comply in the outdoors. Some day! The other place we went is called sheep pasture. It has trails throughout the woods but is a lot smaller than Borderland, but they have some ponies, chickens, ducks, turkeys, sheep and goats. He really wanted to chase the chickens, and I think he probably wanted to play with the pony too! He is also officially licensed in Boston now, so I think he has officially made the transition from country to city boy! And that's the Andy update! Thanks for everything you do!

Paul

Rustiversary

It's our one year Rustiversary, as we call it, and I thought I'd take a minute to tell you what we've been up to. It's been a really great year for us and Rusty T. (trouble) Seaver. He learned to swim, hiked some mountains with us, and slept in the sun on many sunny mornings.

I still remember coming to Camp Kyra to pick him up, and when he was let out of the crate, he ran around the room like a loose chicken. We then went outside, and he left a nice present at the side of the driveway, then cried the whole way home in the car. But it's all been uphill from there!

When we finally made it home, he spent his first night asleep in the middle of the living room floor, and we were amazed by how calm he was! What a great dog. The next day, however, he was running around the apartment, a blur of yellow fur and energy, and he hasn't stopped moving since.

The first time he went swimming was with my parent's dog, Cody. She's a retriever and loves to swim, and myself, my mom, and Rusty were on the shore watching Cody one day when I asked if she thought Rusty could swim. She said no way! No sooner had she said that, someone threw a stick into the water, and he was after it, beating someone else's dog to the middle of the pond, and brought the stick back! We couldn't stop laughing. He is the smallest dog that swims at that pond by far, and everyone gets a kick out of it.

His favorite thing to do is sleep in the sun after our morning walks, and once the sun gets too high for that, he bunches up the blankets on the couch and snuggles under them. What a goofball.

He also enjoys chasing squirrels and chipmunks, and fall is rapidly becoming his favorite time of year because the squirrels are out burying their acorns. He has to sniff EVERY ACORN on our walks. Oi...

He also likes to do some rather quirky things. For example, shortly after we got him, I came home one day to find all my shoes lined up in the living room. He had gotten them out of my closet in the bedroom, and carried them to the living room, one by one. He didn't nibble them at all! He also likes to howl at fire trucks, which we never grow tired of.

Lots of poochie smooches,
Emily, Dave & Rusty
Leo's Happy Kingdom

Hello Lisa,

We just thought we would drop you a line to let you know how wonderful Leo (aka- Kodiak) is doing. Just over 6 months, about 40lbs and climbing! He's a bit bigger than the pics I'm sending, but haven't had time to download the most recent; the best description of him would be in appearance and especially personality wise is most definately a BROWN, LIGHT-GOLDEN EYED HUSKY!! Through and through!! Not much evidence of his father's genes with the obvious exception of his coloring and flopped ears (still don't know if they're going to be up or down.) We're on his third bed; he thought they made great chew toys! ugh. It's been about a week on the new one and we think he has finally decided he might like to keep this one. He still likes his crate, or as we call it, his bedroom. So I guess our dining room will remain his for a while longer.

I must say he doesn't go after anything else other than his toys so we're lucky there; however, he now has all his adult teeth, and wow! what a set of teeth he has! The only dog I know that destroys KONG chew toys. His all-time favorite is an empty 2 liter soda bottle; we tie that with light rope on the end of a pole, and as with our last baby, Mocha, it makes a wonderful training and exercising tool.

People stop us and ask what breed he is because he is so beautiful (if I may say so myself!),not that I'm prejudiced. He's healthy , and has also had his lyme booster, just thought you might like to know that, living where we do it really is something I think all dogs around this area NEED to have.

We can't wait for his first snow, not too far off now, he gets excited over frost on the ground, so it will be quite the day in our house when it arrives. thanks again Lisa, for bringing him into our lives,

Matt & Shelley
